Chocolate Giveaway Winner, Eighty Percent Raw, & Chocolate Zucotto Recipe

Yay! All your chocolatey answers were entertaining! Thank you for participating! It was a fun trip down memory lane reading about the candies and chocolate bars most of us used to enjoy... along with interesting sounding things I'd never even heard of before. Stay tuned for a different raw chocolate giveaway coming soon... what other giveaways would you like to see here on my Sweetly Raw blog?

And now, drumroll... Congrats to Amy, the winner of this choccie turtle giveaway. I hope you enjoy the box of raw vegan turtles and copy of Just Desserts.

On another note, my friend Tracy has freshly launched a fabulous online magazine called Eighty Percent Raw. I am in complete support of the idea of eating high raw, with space for a little cooked when desired (personally, I feel drawn to things like baked yams and squash during the cold winter months). An online support system like this is perfect for people who are wanting to transition to all raw food, for those who want to incorporate more of it into their lifestyle, or folks who are already 100% raw and want to connect with like minded individuals. So what can you expect to find in the magazine? Many things: Recipes, videos, fitness information, restaurant reviews, a list of raw restaurants around the country, and an interactive community. I am thrilled to be featured in the community as one of the Top Chefs! My March contribution was an Italian Chocolate Zucotto - you can check out the recipe, but I'll leave you with a few pics in the mean time.

A raw vegan twist on a classic Italian dessert...Walnut Cake with a hint of orange is layered with crunchy vanilla almond cream, and smooth rich cacao cream...

On that sweet note, what other giveaways (home-made goodies and otherwise) would you like to see on here?

    Hey, Heathy,

I'm so delighted to find your beautiful blog and spirit! I'm up here in Alaska, far north kindred spirit here. I have also worked as a dessert chef, but by no means as extensively as you.

My current project, because I'm eating no sugar (no fruits/honey/agave/etc) myself is to develop sweet treats and portable snacks without any of those.

My blog is at - I'll be posting about my experiments there soon.
love
Ela

Hey, am I in the right place? Did you change the name of your blog or just it's look? I am a bit confused (not unusual) but I do like the color - reminds me of chocolate.

That cake looks divine!

  11. March 9, 2010 at 12:41

I like the 80 percent raw idea. Sometimes I think people get too strict with their diets. If you stress out too much, that's not good either.

The dessert looks lovely as always :-)

  12. March 9, 2010 at 13:36

Wow I love the new layout. Really nice, the black lettering is a little harder to read. maybe go with a lighter color. But it is a really nice look.

Thanks for all the information you give us.

To health
Rhonda D.

Thank you for treating your readers to a wonderful contest, and congratulations Amy!
I would love any ideas you might have about a raw version of an American Southern specialty, Banana Pudding. I have been thinking about ways to raw up this traditional dessert, but haven't quite figured it out. Your creations are so beautiful and full of flavor, I thought I might hand the torch to you for a makeover. And I CANNOT WAIT to try this scrumptious looking divine chocolate creation in today's blog. Oh my gosh that is surely going to take me to nirvana. Chocolate and orange are one of my favorite combinations.
