Nature at it’s Finest

A word of warning - not a stitch of food will be featured in today's post - but you will see lots of pics, and a funny video! As I mentioned in my previous post, I've finally invested in a high quality camera (Canon Rebel XS). I'm in the beginning stages of learning how to use all that it has to offer, but it's taken spectacular photos thus far... and it's opened up a whole new world. While nature has always been super important to me, I've never been overly drawn to photograph it (although I do love taking food pictures outside). On my little photo adventure last week, I discovered just how amazing every flower petal, leaf, rain drop, and bug is! My camera is able to capture the beauty of these generally overlooked things in a way my old cam couldn't. Not only that but on a particularly difficult and emotional day, the act of getting creative in nature lifted me out of my funk. It's another creative outlet and healing modality!

Here are some of the shots I've taken...May you enjoy as much as I do!

Two toned pink lupins... I looove these!

Purple lupin- They line our roads in various colours this time of year.

White lupins

A wild rose - these are in such abundance right now!

Light pink rose... see the water droplets in it?

A rose with two buggies in it 🙂

Some kind of wild flower, anyone know what it is?

I stumbled upon a lady bug! I haven't seen one in years!

I had no idea a dandelion could be so beautiful! I love it's featheriness!

Blue Bells in the grass

A chive flower... have you ever looked closely at one?
Remember a number of posts ago when I posted some pictures of the bear who came to visit? I took a little video and turned it into this little video yesterday. I'm a first timer when it comes to editing (normally my Boo Bear aka, Philip does it for me), but it turned out. I still laugh every time I watch it 🙂

Hey there Heathy! I loved this video. Wow! Where you guys in the car or in the house. Do you think this was a baby or a fully grown bear? Do you feel unsafe at anytime? Wow again. I loved watching this, you didn't seem scared at ALL!!

Glad you are having fun with your new camera. Love the lupins.

I feel sad when bears come into human dwellings--I feel like we are crowding them out or something. Hope this fellow found his way back into the woods and got some real food instead of having to dip into your bird feeder. I have read some really well done books written from the bear's perspective. What amazing creatures.

I love your photos. These are all of the flowers that I grew up with in the Pacific Northwest. We make wishes then blow the fuzzies off the dandelion flower :)

I love my camera, the zoom is brilliant like yours. I can be in my house and take a photo of a bird in the tree and see all it's feathers.

I've often found in photography there is nothing more beaitifully precious than droplets on a flower!

Yay for a new camera! What gorgeous photos it takes! I love the lupins tall and colorful.
That picture with the ladybug should be on a postcard..its so perfect!
What a cute little bear you had visiting. At least you are used to having him around every year:)
PS what a gorgeous back yard you have!!

So jealous you got a new camera!! The pictures look great!! Love all the flowers.

Oh boy, I remember when one time we were vacationing in the mountains in Colorado, and a huge deer came right onto the porch, and my parents were out there. Looking back it is pretty funny.

Hehe glad you guys got a kick out of it!

We were inside the house and he was attacking the bird feeder! My dad said he's about a 1 year old, so pretty young, and will still get much bigger! :)

Gotta love Canon! Great shots and cute video! And what a cool ladybug! And love chive flowers, my one year old loves to play with them...leaving those seeds to flower elsewhere. :)

Wonderful pictures. I love seeing the bear! We used to see them all the time when we lived in the mountains...but not now. I miss them. Though we did have a bobcat in the yard last week. ;-)
