Raw Chocolate – Take a Bite!
Oh happy day! Let's give thanks for one of my favourite flavors - chocolate!
I've been at it again, whipping up scrumptious chocolate treats. Last week, in addition to caramel turtles, and fruit n nut clusters, a simple yet amazingly delicious new moonie pie was born. What was the occasion? Dessert for a dinner party at my friend Denyse's, on the weekend, in the city. Fortunately, packed in a cooler with ice, they made the long car journey in tip top shape! They were a hit by our friends. My reward is the "oooh.... ahhhh...I need another one... what is in this?!"
I used the Vanilla Moonie Pie recipe as a base for the new ones. A few exchanges and additions, and voila! I made smaller ones this time, think 4-5 bites.
Orange Goji Moonie Pies
Changes from vanilla moonie filling:
-Swap fresh orange juice for the water
-5 teaspoons packed orange zest
-Cut the vanilla extract to 1 teaspoon
-Omit the vanilla bean powder
-Reduce sweetener of choice by 1 tablespoon (I used maple syrup)
-4-6 drops orange essential oil (or to taste)
-1/3 - 1/2 cup goji berries
Prepare the vanilla filling, swapping in the new ingredients.
At the end, pulse in the goji berries, breaking them down slightly but keeping little bits of texture.
Since we're in the moonie theme... I know I posted this pic already, but here's how I made a mint moonie without the fresh mint, using the vanilla cream as a base.
Minty Moonies
-Omit the vanilla bean powder
-Add a few drops of mint essential oil, to taste
(this is very strong, even stronger depending on the brand)
-Enough spirulina for a pale green shade
As I say farewell, I'll leave you with a beautiful rainbow I saw last weekend at Denyse's - it came out right as we were all enjoying dinner. Can you see the white tipi in the distance?

What a wonderful touch of sweetness for my afternoon. xoxo

Recently I was working on a list of recipes to prepare for my friend who is due in two weeks - first thing I did, check out my Just Desserts ebook. I now have a plan to make some maple ginger ice cream and raw blueberry cheesecake. Thank you Heathy!

I love getting your blog updates in my inbox! I finally got all your ebooks and can't decide what to make first! I just bought an extra freezer for all the wild berries I plan on picking this summer and also plan on filling it with some ice cream and goodies to eat after I give birth in 4 weeks.

Please please... I need to know... to make your turtles do you use one of the caramel sauce recipes from Just Desserts?
Simply the best.
The colour of that Moonie Pie made me suddenly realised how yummy a caramel flavoured one would taste! I have to try that.

Lovely, yummy pics.
Heather,

Those turtles look divine.
Thanks for another recipe of the gorgeous and delicious moonie treats! For some reason chocolate-orange is one of the only chocolate combos I am not as big of a fan of. But I want to make some of the combos people did for their challenge.
I've made a number of treats from your dessert books. All delish!
I am wondering though, how you don't struggle with candida with all the sweets you have going on?
The orange Moonie pies were absolutely divine! The essence of orange blended beautifully with the rich dark decadent chocolate, and the presentation was superb, I feel like having a party here every day just to have the moonie pies!! Now as for those turtles, after enjoying them, I have decided to become a raw turtletarian and eat only Raw Goddess Heathy's turtles 24/7!
We have to make your moon pies fast, all this desserts look amazing!
Wow, everything looks so good!!! Makes me want to get busy in the kitchen! Thanks for the post Heather xxx
Stop teasing your readers! You're making me want to buy your moonpie book and make those delights. I've spent far too much money this month though. Will have to cope with moonpie porn for a bit longer :)
So beautiful Heather, those moonies and choccies look wonderful :) Thanks for sharing!
This post is a chocolate lovers dream...yum!
I really should say something nice and sweet and proper ... but all I can think of is "omgawd, this is why they call it food porn!"
Thank you thank you all!

Chauncy - ooh congrats! Do you know if it's a boy or girl? No, not the recipe from JD... bit of a secret for now :)

Karri - lol, not sure. Guess I'm blessed?!
I'm having a girl (my second). I'm really hoping since your caramel is a "secret" that means another ebook is in the works.

I'd love to get a treat with you next time you're in NY.
Sheesh...wish I was either your neighbor or your BFF.....lol! Yummy girl...don't ever stop creating! Have a great day!
This looks amazing! Congratulation!
Chauncey - would love to get together! I will be in NYC in July! You'll have your hands full with your little one, but I can update you when I have actual dates :) Huge congrats you must be so excited!
